Phase 1 and scoping
Phase 1 and Scoping surveys
It is important that ecology is considered at an early stage in any development. Durham Wildlife Services carry out initial ecological scoping surveys, ecological risk assessment and protected species risk assessment surveys using the standard extended Phase 1 guidelines in order to identify potential opportunities and constraints at an early stage in the development process.
It is important to identify any potential constraints early as certain species, such as Great Crested Newts and Bats have a restricted survey season and can therefore hold up development unnecessarily if they are not identified at an early stage in the process.
From this initial survey work we can identify the further surveys that are required to enable a smooth route through the planning process, if there are no ecological constraints identified then it is likely that no further surveys will be required.
We work across the North East offering our services at highly competitive rates and covenant all our profits to Durham Wildlife Trust. Our pragmatic and personal approach allows us to provide a bespoke service for each individual client when dealing with development issues. Mitigation designs are always discussed and agreed with our clients so the best possible design can be created which is subtle within the proposed development, whilst still providing the necessary mitigation required.
